Christmas Card Genius

How brilliant is this Christmas Card booklet? Maybe I'll snag this idea for next year- it's a great alternative to buying presents if you're short on cash, too!

and for all you pescetarians out there (i.e. those who follow the cheater's vegetarianism, like me) here is a great recipe for salmon pastrami...

Weekend Bliss

What is everybody doing this weekend?

I am waiting not-so-patiently for my man to come back home! Yes, he is coming back for two weeks to spend Christmas and New Years here with me :) Two weeks may not seem like much, but for us it's an incredible treat. There is definitely an art form to long distance relationships (which, I don't believe, anybody has ever mastered). However, we get to take a break from it all starting tomorrow. I cannot wait!

Aside from all the romance this weekend will have to offer, I will be baking up a storm! Have you ever made Valhorna chocolate brownies? That is my project, and I am determined to succeed, then celebrate by eating every last bite (with Salman's help, of course). If I end up finding a good recipe, I'll be sure to share it with you all.

Until then, have a wonderful, wintery weekend!

Do What you Love (Baltimore!)

Ryan at Pacing the Panic Room has done it again....and this time in my hometown! Here is his latest installment of "Do What You Love" for the Gap. He profiled Jess, who is an employee at Charm City Cakes, and is also a (guess what?) nursing student at JHU School of Nursing! Jealous much? Granted, her life is probably a daily whirlwind, but if I could be a nursing student by day and bake cakes by night I would take it in a heartbeat.

cake and other delicious things.

Oregon had her first taste of Pennsylvania snow during the holiday weekend.

And then it was time to taste the cranberry upside-down cake...

...thank you, smitten kitchen. click here for the recipe.

Michelle taunting Oregon with her dainty cup of hot apple cider.

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend, as well! Now, how much longer do I have to wait until Christmas??
